Group Decision Making: From Consistency to Consensus

چکیده
In group decision making (GDM) processes, prior to the selection of the best alternative(s), it would be desirable that experts achieve a high degree of consensus or agreement between them. Due to the complexity of most decision making problems, individuals’ preferences may not satisfy formal properties. ‘Consistency’ is one of such properties, and it is associated with the transitivity property. Obviously, when carrying out a rational decision making, consistent information, i.e. information which does not imply any kind of contradiction, is more appropriate than information containing some contradictions. Therefore, in a GDM process, consistency should also be sought after. In this paper we present a consensus model for GDM problems that proceeds from consistency to consensus. This model includes a novel consistency reaching module based on consistency measures. In particular, the model generates advice on how experts should change their preferences in order to reach a solution with high consistency and consensus degrees.

A rational consensus model in group decision making using linguistic assessments
A new consensus model for the consensus reaching process, in a linguistic framework, is presented in heterogeneous group decision making problems, called rational consensus model. It is guided by some linguistic consensus and linguistic consistency meaures. All the measures are calculated from a set of linguistic preference relations used to provide experts' opinions. This consensus model allow...
متن کاملBasis for a Consensus Model in Group Decision Making with Linguistic Preferences
In a linguistic framework, a new architecture of fuzzy-logic-based consensus model in group decision making is presented. Its most important feature is that it allows to develop a consensus reaching process guided by two types of linguistic consensus measures, consensus degrees and linguistic distances, which describe with a great exactness the current consensus situation. In this way, more hum...
متن کاملA Consensus Model for Group Decision Making with Incomplete Unbalanced Fuzzy Linguistic Preference Relations
We present a consensus model for group decision making with unbalanced fuzzy linguistic preference relations, i.e., assuming that the preferences are assessed on linguistic term sets whose terms are not symmetrically and uniformly distributed. This consensus model can manage incomplete information situations, that is, situations where the experts do not give all the preference values that they ...

متن کاملA model of consensus in group decision making under linguistic assessments
This paper presents a consensus model in group decision making under linguistic assessments. It is based on the use of linguistic preferences to provide individuals' opinions, and on the use of fuzzy majority of consensus, represented by means of a linguistic quantifier. Several linguistic consensus degrees and linguistic distances are defined, acting on three levels. The consensus degrees indi...
